Light the World Giving Machine Kiosks Return to Canada for the Holiday Season

Unique vending machines make giving fun, easy and memorable in 126 cities across 21 countries on six continents

The Light the World Giving Machine kiosks — innovative vending machines that provide a hands-on way to donate to local charities during the holiday season — are returning to Canada. This year, the machines will be available in six locations: Montreal, Laval, Lethbridge, Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria.

Twenty-five local charities and two global organizations will participate in Canada’s Giving Machine kiosks. Donors can choose from 125 different items, including food, hot meals, warm clothing, baby formula, adaptive toys, medical kits, hygiene supplies, vaccines and assistance for seniors.

In 2024, nearly 30,000 visitors participated in the Canadian Giving Machine initiative, purchasing more than 12,800 item cards and donating over C$334,000 to support 18 Canadian and four global non-profit organizations.

“The Giving Machine kiosks remind us of what the season is truly about — the joy of giving,” said Elder Dominic R. Sénéchal, chair of the Montreal Giving Machine campaign. “This experience turns generosity into something tangible, allowing you to support your neighbours and those in need, one thoughtful tap at a time.”

Since the first machine launched in 2017, this international program has raised approximately US$50 million, funding essential items and services for millions of people worldwide.

The Light the World Giving Machine initiative is a global effort to make charitable giving simple and impactful. From beehives for families in Kenya to warm blankets for children in Canadian cities, these gifts transform generosity into joy. Worldwide, more than 450 charities will benefit from donations made through Giving Machines this season.

Importantly, the campaign covers all operational costs, ensuring that 100% of every donation goes directly to the participating non-profit to purchase and deliver the selected item. More than 80% of items in each machine directly benefit people in the communities where the machines are located.
